Contemplative Monk : Intentional Spirituality Transforms

A Christian Mystic Manifesto

“The Christian of the future will be a mystic, or he will not exist at all.” ~ Karl Rahner, S.J.

First off, let me tell you how thankful and grateful I am:

And it’s upon this third aspect I want to rest.  So my focus and message to you here is to “be revived in Our Lord Jesus, “Be filled with the Holy Spirit,” but don’t fall short, be restored by the transforming work of God Our Father, which is through Contemplation.

Each system we’ve developed falls short if it stands alone.

The first degenerates into systems of fundamentalism who’s one goal is to make a system so safe, that there’s no need for the uncertainty of the Holy Spirit, except in creed or belief.

The second is mysticism lite. It is the mystery of God held firmly by the souls of men, yet it’s always breaking loose in the hearts of those who would walk with God in the cool of the day.

So what of the third?

Spirituality Is Body, Soul, and Spirit

For too long we have made spirituality an intellectual enterprise…quoting Scripture and standing in the dogmas and creeds of narrowing traditional systems. God explodes or allows our static systems to implode because the Word is alive and breathing.

Though the words lightly sit upon the page, their threshold begins and lives in eternity. We make our systems while God transcends us all. When Jesus says, “You search the Scriptures because you think in them you have eternal life, but they point to me,” Is Jesus pointing us to Scripture or to himself?

Analytics scratch the surface but never encounter God. Why? Because our analytical inquiry begins and ends with ourselves. Our soul’s tools are never enough.

As God is spirit, so our spirit must lead us into encounter. Worship is engulfing our spirit with God. We are all consumed at our core. This is the mystery, and this is the never-ending transforming process of contemplation.

Contemplation Is A Process

We engage the spark of eternity within us, birthed from the burning heart of God. For God is light and in YHWH, there is no shadow or darkness at all.

Spirit is life and light that enlightens us with the breath of God breathing into our center of centers, the very seat of our being connecting us as sons and daughters of light, allowing this ever-unfolding connection that integrates us within the eternal mosaic of living light, like sparkling energy of delight.

O Taste and see…for God is beyond us in depth, expanse, feelings, thoughts, and being…in every way, our words fail us.  But God is good, and God is love inviting us into the grand choreography of glory and the mystery of oneness. Jesus is calling you home.
