“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space lies our freedom and power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and freedom.” ~ Viktor E. Frankl
* …a Sioux friend told me:
The Creator gathered all of creation and said,
“I want to hide something from the humans until they are ready for it. It is the realization that they create their own reality.”
The eagle said, “Give it to me, I will take it to the moon.”
The Creator said, “No. One day they will go and find it.”
The salmon said, “I will hide it on the bottom of the ocean.”
“No. They will go there, too.”
The buffalo said, “I will bury it on the great plains.”
The Creator said, “They will cut the skin of the earth and find it even there.”…
Then Grandmother Mole…who has no physical eyes but sees with spiritual eyes, said, “Put it inside them” (for that is the last place they will look.)
The Creator said, “It is done.”
Being created in the image and likeness of God, we create our own reality. We tell our own story.
So we can create a wonderful new reality within ourselves. We see everything from our own viewpoint of that reality. We even have the ability to “walk a mile in someone else’s moccasins,” but the viewpoint is ours though tempered.
Now here’s the kicker. Being broken, fallen humanity, we create a fractured reality in and of ourselves. We’ll never get it right. Not in a hundred million lifetimes. Our greatest strength is also our greatest weakness. So breathe and relax.
Our way out is through Jesus. It’s through our transformation and restoration. Transformation is what happens spiritually in God’s presence and restoration is the integration of that transformation into our lives.
Restoration is bringing about God’s original intent.
We pray, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
Do we expect God to do it for us as we sit idly by?
Why has God given us gifts and callings?
This is what intentional spirituality is all about. It’s about working out of our wholeness in Christ.
Restoration is about creating with our Creator. Restoration is about living the eternal life we’ve been given in Jesus Christ in the here and now.
This is a huge paradigm shift. As we create our own reality, we can create with our Creator. We can live the kingdom of heaven on earth.
What are you creating right now?
