Collect for the Third Sunday in Lent

Almighty God, you know that we have no power in ourselves to help ourselves: Keep us both outwardly in our bodies and inwardly in our souls, that we may be defended from all adversities which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may assault and hurt the soul: through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

A Meditation on Prayer

Prayer is always, always, always spiritual.

Prayers are portals into the eternal, not mere words. There are no magic formula’s, no magic words, In Jesus Name assures us of nothing without faith.

Faith is the catalyst that hurls us through our prayers into the eternal.

Faith is our end of a divine exchange…to commune dwell in.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Faith is spirit born, not the stuff of mental or emotional craft.

In prayer, we come through Jesus. Jesus is branded on our foreheads and seared in our hearts. His spiritual DNA has entwined with ours. We are sons and daughters of the living God.

In prayer, faith moves us from the gentle rains of receiving into the sacred pursuit, pressing in and through.

“He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, and sets me upon my high places.”
